Great article. Lots of fun ideas I never thought to try. I have tried organic pesticide and it works well. Still kills the good and bad bugs but more environmentally friendly. The leftovers from dinners I have not tried but will be sure to start using. Thanks for the great tips.

dryhedges are a good way to:
1 provide habitat for wildlife
2 avoid bonfires
3 put all tree-prunings together so you can grow an environment that then gradually decomposes and tilthes the soil
4 you can use recycling for making it as, basically, it is just like an old fashioned 4 poster bed i.e.put 4 posts into the ground so stable and some matting or old carpet inside the " rectangle" of the "bed". add the prunings and if you like weeds too

I have a rain barrel and use it for all my potted plants as well as the small garden. However, is there something to put in the rain barrel to keep the water from becoming stagnent? Most times I do use the water completley, however I am concerned of the bacteria in water if I never use all and the rain keeps refilling. Thanks

[...] Planting a rain garden in a naturally low area of your yard, or at the output of the downspout is another way you can treat rain water without sending it to a storm drain. Read more about planting a rain garden. [...]
